Yule Season Begins In Baja

Dear friends...the Yule season begins for us Pagans, the bird is in the oven, new friends coming for dinner, lots of cheap red and white wine, xtians going to church up North and battling in the airports. Such craziness. I still don't understand why we celebrate the ill-fated Bradford party that nearly starved in new America (70 left alive of 142), the nut case folks who were run out of England for their religious zeal... and upon this day mandated by US presidents, we give thanks for their salvation by indigenous people (they brought the corn, lobster and pumpkins and few wild turkeys)...and for their efforts privateering europeans came, destroyed those naughty Pagans and founded a country in god we trust. Oy. Thanksgiving for us believers in the old religion, we celebrate a bountiful harvest and pray for a shorter winter. Our prayer, painted on an old round table by Vladi the Estonian, " Blessed by the Gods all those who gather here." We toast you and Richard, live, love, eat!You are with us in spirit. Paganus Drake (my new pen name)
